How do I login to the GTI Home Exchange web-site as a member?

From the GTI Home Page, you should first click on either the green Member tab at the top of the page, or on the Login hyperlink in the righthand menu to reach the login page: or go straight to the URL http://www.gti-home-exchange.com/ihea/memberlogin.cfm and enter your email address (the one that you registered when completing your membership application form) and your password. If you have entered it correctly, you will immediately be logged in to your own Member Administration Area on the site. If you have changed your email address since registering, use your old email address to login, once in your own Administration Area click on the 'View/Alter my Details' link, enter your new email address, and then click on 'Continue' at the bottom of the form to save the new details to your listing. Next time you wish to login, the login will operate correctly with your new email address.

What if I have a problem with logging in?

If you receive an error message and are returned to the Login Page, click on the 'Troubleshooting Guidelines' hyperlink to read about the possible causes of the login failure, the security level at which your computer is set, and the necessity for cookies to be enabled for the login procedure to operate correctly.

How do I add pictures to my listing?

Upload pictures to from your computer using our picture upload facility. Ensure that the photo which you are uploading is in Jpeg format (it will have either a '.jpg' or '.jpeg' name extension). The Pictures will be automatically resized to be no more than 220 pixels in height, so pictures in landscape format (ie wider than they are tall) work best. Also, if possible ensure that the original picture which you are using is over 220 pixels in height, to minimise loss in quality.

To upload your photographs, log on to the Members' Area with your Email Address and Password. When you arrive in your own administration area, click on the link 'Manage your Photos'. Browse your pictures file on your own computer, and locate and open the first photograph which you wish to upload, the picture Filename will appear in the box, label it by selecting the appropriate image number (ie 1) from the drop-down list, and then click the 'Upload' button. That is all there is to it. Do this for each of the subsequent photographs labelling them 2, 3, 4 and 5 as appropriate. How do I update/amend my listing?

Log on to the Members Area with your Email Address and Password, then click the View/Alter your Details link. You will be presented with a copy of the form which you completed when you first registered your membership. Make whatever amendments are necessary on the form, then when you are confident that all details are correct, click on 'Continue' at the bottom of the form to save the amended form with the new details to our database.

How do I carry out an Advanced Search?

Log in to the Members Area with your Email Address and Password, then click the Property Search link. You arrive at the Basic Search page. The Advanced Search facility is reached by clicking on the Detailed Search button found in the top left corner of the Basic Search page.

The more Search criteria you choose when doing a search, the more difficult it will be to match all the criteria. If your Search does not produce results, trying broadening your Search by removing one or more of the criteria you originally included.

If I know an exchange offer by its HEXXXXX reference, how do I find the listing?

To find a particular listing by its HEXXXXX ID number, you can either Login to the Members Area with your Email Address and Password, and use the facility provided there FIND A MEMBER BY HEXXXXX number. Alternatively, if you are already on the Search Pages, from the Basic Search page click on the Detailed Search button found in the top left corner. Scroll down the list of Advanced Search options. At the bottom you will find the box Search by Member ID. Enter their HEXXXXX (the HE is essential and no spacesbetween) to bring up their full listing.

How do I Search the "Hot List of Newest Listings"?

The Hot List may be viewed by members and non-members alike right from the Home Page by clicking on the hyperlink in the left-hand column of the page. Members will need to login to their own Member Admin Area to be able to use the contact details of those on the Hot List, as these are not available to browsing visitors on the site.

How does the Last Minute Offers list operate?

This list is provided to enable a Member to give their listing a 'boost' if they are within 3 months of their proposed exchange dates and have not yet found a suitable exchange. To use this facility, login to your own Member Admin Area and click on the Boost my Listing hyperlink. By taking this action you place yourself on the "Last Minute Offers" list and remain there for one month. If you are still looking for an exchange after that time, you have to re-activate it by clicking on Boost my Listing again in your Member Admin Area.

Using the Exchange Request fulfilled facility.

If you have arranged your exchange, but have not yet made plans for future trips, or indeed may not be planning to travel the following year and therefore no longer wish to receive enquiries, log on to the Members Area as above, click the View/Alter your Details link and tick the Exchange Request Fulfilled box found near the top of your Membership Registration form. This will then show on your displayed listing and will avoid members making unnecessary contacts. However, be sure to REMEMBER TO uncheck the Exchange Request Fulfilled box when you are ready to make plans for your next home exchange, so that members will know that your offer is now available.
